Long time visitors may recall that we hold an annual event over at the forums each December, the Secret Santa Art Exchange. This year's like all those before it has resulted in a cool new wave of Legends fan art. As part of the tradition, the images created for the event will randomly appear on the site's home page for the next month or so. Enjoy the art and happy holidays!

5 Islands And Then Some

2011-11-18 - Posted by fAB
Many of you are probably already aware that there's been a great surge of information recently regarding Rockman DASH Big 5 Island Adventure. For those who aren't, it started with this post on Mega Man Network and has culminated in a large-scale, combined effort among the fans to translate, localize, and dub the entire game! The fruits of their labor thus far can be seen in these videos:

Sealos Island 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4

When you're through watching you might also be interested in checking out the latest twenty additions to the Mini-Comic Contest section, and some new fan fiction and art by Steffie, Trigger, and Dashe.

I'm posting on behalf of Dashe, who is reponsible for today's content update. She was kind enough to put together a full section on the Mega Man Legends 3's Townspeople Event. Slowly but surely Legends Station will continue to build a thorough archive of Legends 3's development, a brief but important era in the history of our beloved series.

Chris Hoffman Shares His Experience with the Prototype

2011-09-08 - Posted by Dashe
[ Chris Sprite ]
About a week ago, Nintendo Power's Chris Hoffman asked for questions about the Legends 3 Prototype's gameplay experience on GamesRadar. He is the only non-Capcom journalist in the west to get his hands on the prototype, and he's revealed quite a bit of information about the game that we didn't have access to earlier.

Among other things, he mentioned that the game was quite faithful to the originals if you could look past the change of protagonist, featured multiple control schemes to choose from, and that the ten-mission prologue would have definitely been worth the $2.00 price tag. Readers can also infer through the mission summary that Aero's last name is Goodwin. Unfortunately, no pictures of her famous father the police chief or additional images have surfaced. Hoffman answers three pages of questions total--go check it out here!

Incidentally, they happened to cancel the game on Hoffman's birthday. That must have sucked big-time.

Content's Content, Game Or No Game

2011-09-01 - Posted by fAB
Although it appears Capcom has no intentions of reversing their decision regarding the fate of Mega Man Legends 3, the fact is that while it was being developed we, the fans, were given a lot of info and shown a lot of content from the project. Legends Station still intends to go forward with its coverage of the game, filling in the MML3 section as much as we possibly can. To that end, there are now a few additions to the Wallpapers page and the Development section has been added to as well. A number of places around the site that mentioned Legends 3's ongoing development have also been appropriately altered to reflect the game's cancellation.

Programming Director Fujikawa Supports Revival Efforts

2011-07-27 - Posted by Dashe
Although he (and most likely the rest of the Legends 3 Dev-Team over in Japan) is under some form of restriction from the higher-ups, Legends 3 Programming Director Yoshiyuki Fujikawa tweeted a message of encouragement to the parties hard at work reviving the project.

Fujikawa states, in a nutshell, that he's interested in seeing how things turn out for the campaign, and offers feelings of support. According to Andriasang, his outlook on the petition getting noticed by Capcom was positive.

Currently the number of Devroom Servbots is now approximately 9,450. The Facebook campaign is approaching 33,000. If we've got support from within Capcom of Japan itself, that sounds like a pretty good sign we're headed in the right direction.

If you haven't yet, sign the Dev-Room's Official Petition here and sound off to Capcom of America's Vice President here! Capcom Unity accounts are required. Be sure to keep it classy!

(Props to Protodude, GoNintendo, and Andriasang...not to mention Mr. Fujikawa himself!)

As of the 28th of July, Fujikawa's Twitter account has been terminated entirely. Huh.

CoA Vice President Christian Svensson is Listening!

2011-07-26 - Posted by Dashe
If you're disappointed about Legends 3's cancellation (I'm sure you are if you're on this site to begin with), Capcom of America's Vice President, Christian Svensson (a.k.a. "Sven" of Capcom Unity) is currently reading through every single post made in this thread in the Ask Capcom forum. He is in constant communication with the higher-ups in Japan, so the fact that he's listening means a lot.

Please don't hesitate to drop in, even if it means setting up an account for Capcom Unity, and sound off in support of Legends 3. As always, be polite and do thank him for going to the trouble of reading everything and taking it into consideration. Capcom Unity has a no-swearing policy and yelling will get us nowhere. If you are in favor of CyberConnect2 taking over the project, it may not be a bad idea to mention it there, and Capcom has yet to acknowledge the 100,000 Strong for Bringing Back Legends 3 page, which is steadily rising and currently at about 31,000.

Speaking of which, if you haven't joined the 100,000 Strong for Bringing Back Legends 3 Facebook group yet, what are you waiting for? Every ounce of support helps prove that there is an audience for the game out there.

And if you haven't got a Servbot number yet, now's the time to sign up and join the rankings! A step-by-step set of instructions can be found here. The number of Servbots in the Devroom has nearly doubled since the project's cancellation, and again, every little bit helps. Nab one while you still can!

Thanks for the tips, Protodude!

Legends 3 Cancellation Backlash Extends to Other Game Companies

2011-07-22 - Posted by Dashe
So far, the 100,000 Strong for Bringing Back Mega Man Legends 3 Facebook Fan Page has gathered 15,000 fans in three days. The numbers are steadily climbing, and if you haven't joined it, be sure and give it a Like!

However, in addition to the tremendous amount of support fans and gamers have drummed up for the continuation of the series (perhaps truly uniting the Mega Man fanbase as one for the first time in who knows how long), two developers have taken note of the cancellation as well. Reverge Labs, the studio behind the Skullgirls fighter, has taken a day to draw whiteboard pictures and made a blog post to express their disappointment

Perhaps even more interesting, the CEO of CyberConnect2, Hiroshi Matsuyama, when asked which Capcom title he'd be most interested in developing, expressed interest in taking on Mega Man Legends 3.

I wonder if Capcom was expecting this kind of reaction when they cut the project...?

They Axed It. All of It.

2011-07-20 - Posted by Dashe

Yes, you read right (if you didn't know already, though, you've probably lived under a rock for the last two days).

No game. No prototype determining whether we get a game or not. No official reason from Capcom that seems to make any sense.

Not cool, Capcom. Not cool at all.

I encourage everyone who thinks the same to join this Facebook page and jump in on our Legends Never Die mail-in campaign to show Capcom that the Legends series DOES have an audience that loves it like crazy, and that it DOES have enough appeal to hold its own on the market.

I mean, come on, when was the last time you played a game with this much heart?

1UP.com Article on Mega Man Legends

2011-07-18 - Posted by Blues
Jeremy Parish, well-known Mega Man fan and editor-in-chief of 1UP.com, has written an article about the first Mega Man Legends game entitled 'Halcyon Days: Mega Man Legends and the Lost Art of Sincerity'. In it, Parish discusses the ways in which the game was ahead of its time, the way in which this actually worked against its favor and, despite those flaws, the qualities that really give Legends its ability to make a heartfelt impression on players- whether back in 1998 or in today's modern gaming world. It's clear from this article that Parish is a masterful writer, here taking a nostalgically wistful view of the game while also managing to be realistic and grounded in his opinions. This article serves as a reminder of why many of us as Legends fans first fell in love with the series, and for that alone the article is worth a thorough read.

And The New Bright Bats Mascot Is...

2011-07-05 - Posted by Dashe
Tinker the ferret, creation of Western Devroom Member Espiownage!

Tinker comes with his own complimentary Reaverbot Eye belt that reacts when it gets near robots (just keep your hands off of it), and enjoys watching Grill tinker with his machines. Hence the name. He gets along with all of the other gang members except Max, thanks to an incident with an action figure.

The runner up was Japanese entry Anko, the Reaverbot with the drawn-on face, submitted by Kobun #294.

Honorable mentions went to Kobun #1010's Aibo, Kobun #3782's Mare, Ben-Hur Pilotti's Chip (along with collaborators Tanguy Wandewalle and Zynk), and Jeremey's Hovind.

The following designs were given the Eguchi Award, which basically went to entries Director Eguchi liked: Kobun #1336's Ponkotsu Maru, Kobun #717's Ceja, Arsyahlamuness's Cola, and Niklas's Darchron.

Major congrats to all the winners (and participants) and check out the full story in the Dev-Blog!

MegaMan's Armor Finalized

2011-06-09 - Posted by Dashe

What'd we do to make him so angry...?

At long last, the votes from both devrooms have been tallied and the upgraded design for Mega Man's armor has been decided and posted to the Japanese Devroom. D won by a decent-sized margin in the west and a huge margin in Japan, so the lower torso armor will remain as part of Mega Man's design. His hair now has a messier look to it as opposed to a more deliberate spiked appearance, and there's more emphasis on the joints--the hip sockets from design E have carried over into this final version, and the ball joints between his limbs have been enlarged. The colors have also been slightly brightened. Mega Man's backpack has been upgraded, too--the light on the back alerts the player to status effects, and has a mount for special weapons.

Art Director Ishihara, who was plugging for the crotchplate-less look himself, decided to overhaul Barrett's design instead. More details at Capcom Unity!

Official Event #7: Design the Bright Bats' Mascot

2011-06-02 - Posted by Pitch

Hmm... what's missing here?

It's been quite a long while since we've had any official events over at the MegaMan Legends 3 Devroom, but the next event is finally here! Now you can join in and Design a Mascot Character for the Bright Bats!

The mascot character design can be just about anything. (It doesn't have to be a Bat! ;)) But Capcom does provide a simple premise for you to work with. Capcom's background for the mascot reads, "The character will be highly mysterious, and will first encounter the Bright Bats in the depths of an ancient ruin. It's up to you to decide what kind of personality this character has, and what it was doing in an ancient ruin to begin with!" Keep that in mind, if you plan to work on a submission.

The event follows the same standard rules previous events have used: entrants are expected to submit a description of no more than 300 words; and a maximum of 3 pictures may be attached (not required, but recommended), each of which may not exceed 300KB and should be in a standard image format (JPEG|PNG|GIF). For the first time in the history of these events, teams may submit entries as a group, rather than working solo,if they so choose. A team may consist of a maximum of 3 people. Teams may be preferable for some who lack skills in drawing or writing. Capcom Unity's forums even provide a thread for building teams.

There are, of course, prizes which are similarly like previous events: 1,000 Capcom Unity points for all Entrants; 3,000 points for honorable mentions; 5,000 points for runners up; and a whopping 10,000 for the grand prize winner. Honorable mentions, runners up and the grand prize winner will also receive a special Capcom Unity forum badge and a Servbot Bobble Budd; and the grand prize winner will receive a Premium Servbot Number.

The event deadline is 2011/06/23 5:00 p.m. PST. Have fun designing your mascots!

New Legends 3 Information from Nintendo Power

2011-06-01 - Posted by Dashe
Barrett
Check your mailboxes, Nintendo Power subscribers, because this month they've done a six-page feature on the Legends 3 Prototype version that reveals a ton of previously unconfirmed or unheard of information!

For starters, the article provides the first real peek at the game's control scheme. The R button shoots, the circle pad moves, and for Barrett, the A button controls his melee attacks and the Y button activates his dash and wall run. His Burst Spreader special weapon and Volcanic Leggings have been given official names, and Barrett's been officially confirmed to be playable in the main game as well, at least for part of it.

Oddly enough, Barrell's gone missing and Roll's building destructive mechs that the player will battle in the Prototype. On top of that, Aero's dad is the police chief and that other biker fellow has been officially confirmed to be named Bullbreath.

Perhaps most intriguing of all is what Barrett finds in the ruins of Klickelan Island: he learns the existence of an artifact called the Klicke Lafonica, which is a key plot element. Whether it's integral to the plot of the Prototype or to the full game is, as of now, undetermined.

Presenting your Reaverbot Selections!

2011-05-23 - Posted by Dashe

You voted earlier this month, and here they are, gentlemen and the occasional lady, your Reaverbot selections! Gorubeshu (though Greg's been consistently spelling it "Gorubesshu." I suppose it could go either way) and Mimic came in a very clear first and second, respectively, in both Devrooms. Following up in third were Firushudot in Japan and Poh in the west, with Arukoitan making the special selection in Japan and Mandomantal following suit elsewhere.

The full story's in the Dev Blog as always, followed up by a really interesting article featuring Art Director Yuji Ishihara and Motion Director Shingu, who's finally been given a noseless caricature! They go in-depth and offer brilliant trivia on the winning designs, plus a bit of a hint as to what direction they plan to take them in for Legends 3.

Guess what? Prototype's Delayed!

2011-05-20 - Posted by Dashe
And the new release date is...

...Unspecified! What a report to wake up to in the middle of the day! The team wanted to improve the prototype even more, so the release won't coincide with the 3DS eShop launch anymore. If you're still counting down to the eShop launch, that's all good and well. Hear the full story from Greg translating for Producer Kitabayshi over at Capcom Unity.

MegaMan Design Poll, Final Round

2011-05-19 - Posted by Dashe
[ MegaMan Armor ]
...Honestly, it looks like a battle of the Lower Torso Armor, but who am I to judge?

After heading back to the drawing board, the Mega Man Legends dev team's retooled their Mega Man armor designs for a second round of voting. After option C from last round took a slight lead in the west, and option B took a slight lead in Japan, the team has retooled both of those designs (and changed 'Armored' Design's title to 'Advanced Design' due to the lack of lower torso armor). Mega Man's orange backpack has also made a transition to a more neutral gray in both instances.

Head down to Unity and cast your vote for the design you really want to see appear in the final game! The poll's results are open to the public this time. Interesting topics of note are the dev team's anticipation of a slightly older audience for Legends 3, as well as a small segment on Roll's costume change between the two games.

No Mega Man Legends for PSN

2011-05-19 - Posted by Pitch
MegaMan Legends on PlayStation Network (PSN) was a topic on today's Ask Capcom. (Jump to about 14:20) Unfortunately, Capcom states that the game will not and cannot be ported to PSN after failing a recent IP Sweep. Capcom explains that due to policies that were in place on older games (pre-2000), it may be incredibly difficult to re-secure the rights to certain aspects of the game; this would leave the company potentially vulnerable to legal action, should they re-release the title for PSN. And meanwhile it's not possible to remove any questionable aspects of the game for a PSN port, so as far as re-releasing MegaMan Legends goes, Capcom's hands are tied. So, if you were hoping to pick this title up on PSN, don't hold your breath; I wouldn't bet on a re-release for 3DS either, unless these IP issues are resolved.

Capcom talked mostly of MegaMan Legends 1 in today's segment. A MegaMan Legends 2 or a Misadventures of Tron Bonne PSN port may still be a possibility, for anyone who wants to get his hands on those without paying an arm and a leg on Amazon. But nothing is official yet.

Prototype Version Footage from the Developers

2011-05-13 - Posted by Blues
Over at the Mega Man Network, two new videos from the Japanese Devroom have been posted. The first shows Mega Man Legends 3 Director Eguchi and Producer Kitabayashi playing various parts of the Prototype Version, showcasing Barrett's moves around Teomo and the ruins under Klickelan. What's notable here is that they're using an actual 3DS to do it, giving us our first up-close glimpse of how the Prototype Version will look on the 3DS.

The other, from Tani Akira, is focused on the sound parts of the game. The Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version should be out on June 6th when the Nintendo 3DS' eShop launches. It won't be too long before we'll be able to experience the Prototype Version for ourselves!

More MML3 Prototype Version Features

2011-05-09 - Posted by Pitch
[Barret image]
Barrett sees something awesome on the horizon.

News about the upcoming MegaMan Legends 3 Prototype Version has been a bit hard to come by lately, with Capcom and others emphasizing only a few aspects of the game. (Namely the Bonne mech battle.) But apparently we're just scratching the surface of this demo: a leak from 4gamer has revealed some interesting new details, along with some fresh new screenshots. According to 4gamer, the Prototype will feature no fewer than 10 Missions — more than 10 even. These missions will be varied, allowing the player to explore ruins or fight reaverbots, or cause mischief around the island with the Bright Bats. The demo will feature MegaMan Legends' open-world, "free-running RPG" style gameplay as well, allowing the player to move around the areas however he likes.

[Aero Scene Image]

The article also describes "animated storyboard" cutscenes in between missions, although it's not clear if these types of scenes are going to be included in the final game. It's also interesting to note that loading screens will feature lots of concept art. It's shaping up to be quite an exciting demo. Keep your eyes open for the MegaMan Legends 3 Prototype Version later this month on the Nintendo 3DS e-Shop!

A Look At Barrett's Gameplay

2011-05-04 - Posted by Pitch
[Ruins Screenshot image]

In what appears to be a translation of some content from the Japanese Rockman DASH 3 devroom, Capcom Unity Devroom Liaison Greg Moore has posted a detailed description of the abilities of the MegaMan Legends 3 Prototype's protagonist ("prototagonist?") Barrett. The article details some of Barrett's basic gameplay moves, including basic running and gunning, his hoverbike, wall-running, and yes, The Kick™ and The Can™ are mentioned as well. The article contains some should-be familiar videos for anyone who's been keeping up with this stuff, as well as a few screenshots (nothing we haven't seen before, but a few different angles from the look of it).

While this article doesn't necessarily feature any new content, it does give a better idea of the kind of gameplay to expect in the upcoming Prototype version of MegaMan Legends 3, so if you're as stoked for that Prototype as I am, you might want to go check it out.

Calamity: The Reaverbot With Its Head in the Clouds

2011-05-02 - Posted by Pitch
Over at Capcom Unity, jgonzo has posted an article detailing the process of adapting Reaverbot Event winner Calamity to fit into MegaMan Legends 3. This article is quite similar to the Donner Wels article posted a week ago, although the changes don't appear to have been as drastic. Nevertheless, Ishihara's insights into the process of adapting this Reaver are quite an interesting read, and the article is filled with lots of interesting details.

Some interesting things to note about Calamity: the Reaverbot will not be featured in the upcoming MegaMan Legends 3 Prototype, but you can expect to see some kind of nod to it somewhere; Calamity's name may be changed to meet Capcom's conventions for Reaverbot names; Calamity will also feature the signature Reaverbot Eye. Ishihara notes that, while not all Reaverbots have to feature the Eye, for MegaMan Legends 3, the team is emphasizing this iconic feature of Reaverbots. (Fans of the original MegaMan Legends game's Reaverbot designs may be happy with this decision.)

There's plenty of other interesting little details in the article, so head on over to Capcom Unity and check it out!

Legends 3 Content, First Wave!

2011-05-01 - Posted by fAB
As promised, the first content pages for Mega Man Legends 3 are here! Since the game isn't finished, there are a lot sections that simply cannot be made yet and others that will be placeholders awaiting more content as new information becomes available. It's rather an odd feeling, having to wait to be able to fill in a section. So it goes with an active series! Anyhow, enjoy and look forward to more in the future.

New Screenshots From the 'Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version'

2011-04-28 - Posted by Blues
Eight new screenshots have appeared on the 'net, this time showcasing a new character and some new views of previously-established Klickelan locations. Two of the screenshots portray a fight against a rival Sky Biker gang leader, whose name roughly translates as 'Bluebrace'; another has Barrett up against one of the new Reaverbots while on his hover bike. Also shown is Barrett wielding a spreadshot/gatling gun combo special weapon, and familiar faces Roll, Tron, and a Servbot in Teomo.

Our first look at the mysterious rival Sky Biker gang leader, 'Bluebrace'.

The ever-loyal Servbot, ready as always to make sure
the rocket progression stays safely on track.

More screenshots are likely to arrive the closer the 'Prototype Version' is to launching, so be sure to check back every so often until the Nintendo 3DS's eShop opens in late May.

Which Reaverbots Should Return in Mega Man Legends 3?

2011-04-27 - Posted by Pitch
The MegaMan Legends 3 Devroom is now hosting a poll to determine which Reaverbots should return for MegaMan Legends 3. The poll is set to feature Reaverbots from all three main-series games, including some more obscure choices from MegaMan Legends 2 and The MisAdventures of Tron Bonne. This poll also comes with little bits of information regarding each of the forty-one possible choices. Got a particular Reaverbot you want to see in MegaMan Legends 3? Go make your opinion known! But be careful: you can only select up to five.

The poll closes on Thursday, 5/12 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard (Daylight?) Time. It should be noted that if a particular Reaverbot receives strong support from the comment threads and in the forums, it will automatically be selected, regardless of the votes. Note also that Sharukurusu and Zakobon Horokko are already guaranteed to be featured -- though they do have description pages just like the others.

[New Character Image]
Boy, am I glad I woke up in time for today's coverage of Rockman DASH 3.

The mysterious new character who appeared in silhouette three days ago has been revealed. His name is Barrett, and he will be a playable character in MegaMan Legends 3.

This morning's feature also showed off tons of gameplay footage for the game, much of which was screen-cap'd by yours truly. Unfortunately, I can't attach all the images directly to this post, but you can find all of it on the forums here and here. This morning's coverage saw three trailer-like videos displayed: the first was a brief tease with footage from both of the latter trailers; the second showcased two Missions in-game (one of which featured the motorbike shown in the Devroom Recruitment video!), and the last one showed a Bonne battle against what appears to be Donner Wels, winner of the Bonne Mech event from the Devroom. If you missed it, you missed a lot! Check the forums for the screenshots. There's bound to be a video uploaded eventually.

In the meanwhile, here are a few shots that I can stick to this post.

[Donner Wels image]
Say, that looks kind of familiar...
[Aero's Team Image]
There's some new faces...

There's bound to be better coverage of this before the day is done, so expect some kind of update from me later on today. Update: You can find the full recording of this morning's demo on Ustream. Footage of Rockman DASH 3 doesn't begin until the two-hour mark. Enjoy!

More Legends 3 Screenshots for your Viewing Pleasure

2011-04-18 - Posted by Blues
Amid rumors of a possible Mega Man Legends 3 'Prototype Version' demo comes an all-new set of screenshots from the Japanese Devroom! This set is made mostly of shots from the 2010 builds, showcasing the various states of Teomo city, but one of the more interesting (and familiar) sights seen here is a Sharukurusu in a traditional-looking ruins.

A familiar, perhaps even fear-inducing sight to many long-time players,
once again running amuck in the ruins beneath Terra.

Considering the mysterious new character to be revealed on the 21st and the possibility of a new prototype build being released, Mega Man Legends fans have never before been exposed to so much new content!

New Character to be Revealed on April 21st

Ponytail, or the back of a bandana?

The unveiling that Western Devroom Liaison Greg referred to earlier in the week has now been confirmed by the Japanese Devs to be a new character for Legends 3. Could this be Aero's mystery digger? A classic or X character remade for the Legends series? Mega Man and Roll's long-lost grandmother re-imagined as a digger? We'll find out this Thursday!

Capcom Reveals Event #5 (Easter Eggs) Winners

2011-04-14 - Posted by Pitch
The Easter Egg event results, which were delayed shortly before the MegaMan Legends 3 Devroom went on hiatus due to the natural disasters in Japan have now been posted. A wide variety of interesting ideas have been chosen for winners and for runners up. The winning ideas include: trampoline awnings outside of shops (Kobun #1142 "Bora-san"), two inflatable reaverbot punching bag/toy ideas (Kobun #418 "March Window-san" and Servbot #203 "R. Case"), two “kick Data” suggestions (Kobun #295 "Hiropyoko-san" and Servbot #219 "EnkerX"), interactions with townspeople when MegaMan is run over by their cars(Kobun #137 "Watanabe491-san"), and some odd quest about returning the Bonnes' “fan mail.” (Servbot #616 "Tron Bonne") I guess the Bonnes will be receiving fan mail in this game, too. Neat.

These interesting ideas are accompanied by a handful of runners up, which are all pretty interesting as well, so head over to the Devroom to check them out!

Vote for MegaMan's New Armor

2011-04-11 - Posted by Dashe

The Boy in Blue is back and ready for action...almost!

Check it out: Starting now and ending on April 25th at 4PM Pacific, we the people of the Mega Man fanbase get to vote on what Mega Man Volnutt's armor will look like in Legends 3! Version A's exactly what Mega Man's armor looked like in Legends 2, and the other two designs provide a detail upgrade and a design alteration, respectively. The article under the poll provides insight on Mega Man's armor's evolution between Legends 1 and Legends 2.

To top it off, Capcom's giving out three prizes for people who comment on the blog post, so take a chance and post something...the prizes' value is also connected to the amount of people who spread the word via Facebook and Twitter. So tell your chums to come on down and pick the design that screams "I'm Mega Man...Mega Man Volnutt!" the loudest.

Or you could always pick the one that screams "Hippopotamus" instead if that's how you roll. Your call.

Welcome to the New Legends Station. Enjoy Your Stay!

2011-04-01 - Posted by fAB
As the title says, welcome to Mega Man Legends Station Version 5! After 3 months of working hard whenever my schedule allowed, I'm very excited to present to all of you this new phase in the site's life. If things look a bit odd to you, do give a try at refreshing your browser.

Back in February I announced what was to come, so I'm just going to touch briefly on those same points again.

Design
I did mention that visually this was a less important aspect than it has been in previous versions. To that end, the default style that first-time visitors will be greeted by is actually going to remain Classic. We do however have two new styles available, Reaverbot and System, which I hope many of you will enjoy. All styles are sharing the same improved framework now, designed with greater web efficiency and with larger monitors and faster Internet connections in mind.

Content
Everything's looking better than ever in the new layout, with countless minor improvements made all over the site. Among the most exciting content upgrades though is a few new pages that have popped up, particularly in the Side Games section of the site where we have added a whole section for Rockman DASH Adventure to Save the Planet!

Vision
The first half of the vision is now in place, a fresh reboot with an eye toward the future. The second half will be that future, as we watch the progression of Legends 3 and its content begins to fill in here on Legends Station.

I've put a lot of time and effort into V5, far more than I anticipated, but I feel the end result has been worth it. I very much hope you all agree.

Rockman DASH 3 Demo Canceled

2011-03-22 - Posted by Dashe
In light of the recent series of disasters that have affected Japan, the Nintendo 3DS x Capcom event on the 29th has been called off, which means that Rockman DASH 3 will not be publicly playable at the end of the month after all.

Event #6, the Devroom Promotional Event, is also scheduled to end today at noon PST. If you haven't submitted an idea and are interested, hurry up and get it in!

Devroom Activities Delayed Until Further Notice

2011-03-16 - Posted by Pitch
According to web planner Kinako Ikawa's latest daily report, official news and updates to the MegaMan Legends 3 Devroom will be on hold for a while, in light of the recent natural disaster in Japan. This news is not all together very surprising, since Capcom has already postponed the results of the Easter Egg Event for the same reasons. There's no indication of what this means for future events, or how long this hiatus will last.

As yet, there is no mention of the Rockman DASH 3 beta demo event being canceled, although the possibility remains, as a great deal of gaming events have been canceled already. Update (2011-03-22): The Nintendo 3DS x CAPCOM premium event, where Rockman DASH 3 was to appear as a playable demo, has been canceled. There is no word of any plans for a playable Rockman DASH 3 demo in the future.

Aero's English Voice Revealed!

2011-03-10 - Posted by Dashe
Do you remember that girl, Aero? The one with the pink hair that a bunch of people voted for in October, who's supposed to be a spotter for someone in Legends 3, and whose voice actress Japanese Devroom users got to vote for?

...Me neither.

Anyway, Capcom just released the fourth part of the heroine report, which has some of Aero's English voice clips in it. The name of the English voice actress has still not been revealed to the public at this time.

In other news, Siliconera's Spencer had a word with Seth Killian of CoA regarding the approval meeting and Legends 3's extension a few weeks ago. Click the link for details!

MegaMan Legends 3 Event #6: Help Capcom Spread the Word!

2011-03-07 - Posted by Pitch
Over at Capcom Unity's MegaMan Legends 3 Devroom, the sixth event for the MegaMan Legends 3 Project has been announced. This time around, Capcom wants you to help advertise MegaMan Legends 3 to attract more Servbots to the Devroom! Come up with any clever ideas you can think of to spread the word that MegaMan Legends 3 is coming and get more people in on the project!

As with before, there are several very specific rules you should take note of before participating: submissions are limited to 250 characters; a maximum of three images may be used (GIF, PNG or JPG only); users may only submit up to three ideas, each of which must be contained in its own thread; and a few other specific little things, so be careful! Winners will receive 7,500 Unity Points and a Servbot Bobble Budd, while runners-up receive 5,000 Unity Points and a Servbot Bobble Budd, and all who enter will automatically receive 1,000 Unity Points. The event deadline is coming up pretty soon; submissions will be accepted until noon on March 22 (PST).

2011-03-04 - Posted by fAB
Yes, Capcom is holding an event in Japan on the 29th of March where people will be able to sample a prototype demo of Rockman DASH 3! The project must be pretty well along for them to make a move like this. Hopefully some media from the event will surface.

Mega Man Legends 3 Beta Screenshots Revealed!

2011-03-01 - Posted by Dashe
This evening...well, technically tomorrow morning in Japan...Director Eguchi posted a collection of in-progress screenshots dating back to June 2010 showing the development of Klickelan Island in the Japanese Dev-Room. Andriasang followed up with a translation of the entry, and then Protodude picked it up soon afterward.

Here we go--June 2010, right about when Keiji Inafune dropped that bombshell of a tease at the San Diego Comic Con. At that point, the game kind of looked like this:

Classic Mega Man was just a character placeholder

This is what Teomo City looked like back then

By August 2010, the model for the Mysterious Old Man character in the third Dev-Room event had been designed and Teomo City had changed a bit.

Bass looks to be filling in for a Miitan or something here.

The next images are from September 2010, shortly before the Legends 3 project was announced to the public.

Teomo's still evolving...

Oh, and there's that rocket again.

Finally, this is what Teomo city looks like as of Eguchi's last meeting with the executives, in February 2011.

Look, the buses are making a comeback!

There were seventeen images revealed in all. A brilliant addition to any collection of Legends 3 images!

Legends 3 Project Trial Period Extended

2011-02-24 - Posted by Dashe
As you've probably read on the Dev-Blog, on Tuesday, February 22, the Dev-Team had a meeting with some higher-ups from Capcom of Japan to determine whether Mega Man Legends 3, which up until that point had been in a prototype phase, would be officially greenlit by the company.

Well, Tatsuya Kitabayashi, the Legends 3 Producer, wrote this follow-up, which was posted to the Devroom Blog today. From what he revealed, the extension's length (and most likely its success) will depend on both hype surrounding the project, and another factor that Kitabayashi was unable to disclose at the time.

So if you haven't got a Devroom Servbot number yet, I highly recommend picking one up at this time!

Aero's Voice Acting Review

2011-02-24 - Posted by Dashe
Today, Capcom Unity posted the finale to their three-part series on Aero's voice recording process, brought to you by Sound Designer Support Yamanaka and translated by Devroom Liaison Greg Moore.

As you're probably aware, Aero's Japanese voice actress is Akemi Kanda, pictured to the right, and was selected by the Japanese Dev-Room. She gives a brief interview in Part 1. While it's a bit disappointing that Aero has already been cast in English without the assistance of the Dev-Room (actress details unknown, though she gave an interview of her own in Part 2), Director Eguchi states at the end of the third report that there will be a voice acting related event for the Pan-Western Devroom in the future.

And Capcom's Next Top Reaverbot Is...

2011-02-14 - Posted by Dashe
...Calamity, created by Kankan of the Pan-Western DevRoom! This bruiser will track you and try and zap you with lightning—attack the head at the bottom to blow it sky-high!

[ Calamity Reaverbot ]

The runner up was Kobun #1221 of Japan with Dantragoty. Honorable mentions were awarded to Boris's Janusbot and Invader Dan's Gai-Nee Rope, as well as two entries from Japan. The devs also came up with several extra awards, one of which (the scroll award) went to MMLS's own Raijin, who OP'd the Kaetoriizu collaboration.

Aero 3D Model
Want a more thorough way to view Aero's completed 3D model? Check out this handy dandy 3D Model Viewer that the developers at Capcom have bestowed unto us. It lets you pan, zoom, rotate and examine our lovely and talented new heroine.

The Dev-Room has also got a new Heroine Progress Report up. This one covers the voice recording and localization process and includes a brief interview with Aero's Japanese (and Kobun-selected) voice actress, Akemi Kanda. Composer Reo Uratani follows this update with a relevant blog post of his own.

Also of note: Takoyaki (gyros in the US version) will be somewhat significant to the game's storyline.

Station Renovation, Pushing Onward to Version 5

2011-02-08 - Posted by fAB
As many of the long-time followers of Legends Station are surely aware, the site turns 8 years old today! Naturally, it's the perfect time to look back on what's been and to look forward to what will be, and it just so happens that there's a lot to look forward to this year with Mega Man Legends 3's unfolding development and, closer to home, the upgrading of Legends Station from V4 to V5!

Each time MMLS has taken a step up there have been four major points of interest.

Design
Most obvious, each time the site has relaunched with a new version it has also undergone a visual overhaul. Version 5 will bring a new look of course, but more important will be what's going on behind the scenes, in the code, and in a new one-size-fits-all structure that will better accomodate growth and change while maintaining the optional past styles.

Content
When the layout gets rebuilt, the content needs to be reformatted to fit into the new infrastructure. With each new version of Legends Station this move has also been used as an opportunity to recheck everything and, where necessary, update or upgrade the content. Version 5 is no exception. While the site finally attained a certain level of "completion" in Version 4, the initial V4 development dates back to late 2005, so there are plenty of areas in need of improvement after all this time, and indeed there will even be some completely new pages to look forward to.

Incompletion
Not that we're happy about this one, but it's been a recurring theme with each new version that the site has been missing content because it either wasn't made yet or had yet to be updated to the new layout before the launch date. That will not be the case with V5, therefore this birthday for the site will pass with only an announcement. Progress is well under way, despite having only made the decision to go V5 a little over a month ago, but as much as I'm dying to share it with you all, V5 will not launch until it is fully ready.

Vision
What is the site aiming to be? What goals will it strive to reach? This is the most important aspect for the V5 rebuild. In V1 the vision was to create a Mega Man Legends fan site. For V2 it was to fix all that was wrong with our humble beginnings and continue to build. V3 aimed to reach a new level of professionalism as Legends Station began to really expand not only as a site but also a community. Everything was up, up, up. With V4, the motivation changed. There were some very bad associations with Legends Station that I wanted to move away from and thought I could do so by wiping away the old look and filling in all the content to the point where I could leave the site be forever. It worked to a point, but a site looking for closure has different needs than a site that's looking to grow again.

Capcom has given life back to our beloved Legends series, so I'm giving life back to Legends Station. That's the simple but powerful new vision for Legends Station; a place that for the first time is dedicated to an active series. Version 5 has been designed with this thought foremost in my mind. I hope you all will be looking forward to it!

With Dev-Room Event #4 closed for submissions, the next event has officially been announced, and it's nothing like anything they've given us before! This time around, participants are instructed to come up with a fun little optional activity for the player to be able to do around Teomo City involving the actions "Kick," "Jump," and/or "Grab and Throw Object."

New MegaMan Legends 3 Event: Reaverbot Design

2011-01-19 - Posted by Pitch
Now that the NPC/Townspeople event is over and done, Capcom's posted the latest event for MegaMan Legends 3: Reaverbots!

The Reaverbot event allows for fans to come up with their own designs for a Reaverbot to be included in MegaMan Legends 3. Fans may submit a design description including: a Reaverbot name (ten characters or less), images of the reaverbot design (up to three images only) and a description of no more than one hundred words. The entry deadline is February 1. All participants will receive 5,000 Capcom Unity points; runners up will receive 10,000 Capcom Unity points; and the winner will receive 30,000 Capcom Unity points, a slot in the game's credits, a premium Servbot number (#1-41) and a Capcom Unity badge! Have fun coming up with your own designs!

In addition to the design aspects, there are a lot of little technical details, so make sure you read the guidelines! A few notes to anyone planning to participate: multiple entries are not allowed this time (only the most recent submission is considered); submissions may not span multiple posts; collaborations are allowed, but only one person will receive credit in the event that the design wins; and in the event that any edits are made, the original submission must be deleted and re-posted with any modified content or new material.

Aero's 3D Model Finalized, Japanese Voice Actor Chosen

2011-01-14 - Posted by Pitch
Today, Capcom revealed Legends 3 heroine Aero's finished, game-ready 3D model! In part three of an on-going segment detailing the 3D modelling process for Aero, Capcom Unity details Hiroko Koike's last steps toward a finished model of Aero. You can see the final improvements in her design step by step, and if you're really interested, check out the previous updates to see just how far she's come!

Heroine Progress Report, 3D Modelling:
[Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3]

On a somewhat related note, yesterday over in the Japanese Devroom, voice actress Akemi Kanda was chosen to play Aero in Rockman DASH 3. Japanese Devroom members were given the choice between three different audio samples and ultimately decided on Kanda's voice for the game. The MegaMan Network has some nice coverage of this, along with Kanda's audio sample and the other two voice actors' samples, as well. We have yet to see whether there will be an option to decide on voice actors for the localization of MegaMan Legends 3.

Who'd have thought he'd be such a mama's boy?

The Western winners also included Cleveland Rock, Protodude, Nightshade, Alex, Austin, MegaManMegaFan, Mimi, David, Kyle, MegaMac, Orbulon, Antnumbra, and liquidcross--the latter two of which actually had two designs make the cut! Check 'em all out in Capcom Unity's Official Dev-Blog!

MegaMan Legends 3 Heroine Re-renamed

2011-01-04 - Posted by Pitch
This barely counts as news, but the MegaMan Legends 3 heroine formerly known as Aero is now once again known as... Aero! Thanks to Capcom Unity's MegaMan Legends 3 Devroom Liaison, Greg Moore's work conducting a poll asking which name the fans prefer, the heroine has reverted back to her original name. This update comes with no further information regarding the heroine, but it should be good news for those who were upset when her name was inexplicably changed to Sephira a while back.

On an unrelated note, the folks over at the Capcom Unity Devroom also posted some well-wishes for the New Year. While no new information regarding Legends 3 was revealed, they promise lots of exciting new developments for the future! Happy NEW Year!

2011-01-01 - Posted by fAB
Welcome to 2011! You may have noticed I capitalized the word "NEW" in the title of this post. Well, it's a new year, we have a new game coming to our series, and Legends Station is going to be adding a few new features. As a matter of fact you're looking at the first right now, a brand new news system!

With all the Legends 3 info heading our way this is a much needed upgrade. Of course I won't bore anyone with all the technical details that reside below the surface. The most important aspect is that forum members Dashe and Pitch will be joining me to form the Legends Station news team, to keep everyone better updated on the latest Legends 3 developments or whatever other Legends news might pop up around the web. Please welcome them and look forward to more improvements around here as the year progresses!
